My Best Personal Halite Torrent Configuration

Without any doubt, Halite is currently my favorite torrent client. Halite is a powerful and simple (in fact, too simple) torrent client, based on libtorrent library. The best thing is, Halite can bypass TMNet traffic shaping.

Below are my Halite configuration. These settings helps me to achieve maximum download speed (well, it also depends on the torrent itself, seeder and peer count)

You can follow all the settings above, except for 'Global Upload Rate' (1) in 'Torrents' tab. For this, I recommend you use 70% from your maximum upload speed.

For example, I use Streamyx 1.0Mbps, my maximum upload speed is 384kbps = 48kBps. 70% from 48 is 33 something. For Streamyx 512kbps users, set the 'Global Upload Rate' value to 23kBps, and for Streamyx 384kbps users, set it to 13.

For ADSL, utilizing all upload speed while downloading will slow your downloads. So we will need to give some room to the upstream in order to achieve maximum download speed. Make sure you only run 3-5 torrent download task. Most torrent client will upload to you more if you upload to them, so we need to maximize the upload rate to each torrent downloads.

P2P users should have their tcpip.sys patched. I recommend this patch for Windows XP and Vista (x86, x64, with and without service packs). Unpatched tcpip.sys will only allowed you to have 10 half open connections (half open connection is a 'connecting in progress' connection).
